Terms and conditions
In short
- Early access is free. Nothing is charged while Medusa is in early access, and a reservation costs nothing and can be cancelled at any time.
- When Medusa goes live, you choose. You will be asked to buy the plan you want. After a payment window of 30 days, an account that has not paid falls back to the free plan and loses the paid features. Your data is not deleted for that reason.
- Payments run through Google Play or the Apple App Store. Their refund rules apply. Beyond those and your legal rights we do not give refunds.
- Your legal rights stay. This includes, for consumers, the 14-day right of withdrawal where it applies, and your rights if something you bought does not work. Details and the withdrawal form are below.
1. Who we are, and what these terms cover
Medusa is made by Nirah, a company that is still to be founded. Until it exists, Medusa is offered by Gijs Pampiermole, a private individual, Am Wurstberg 14, 76332 Bad Herrenalb, Germany, e-mail privacy@nirah.nl (“we”). These terms apply to every use of Medusa and to every order, from the moment you create an account.
Consumers are people who use Medusa mainly for private purposes. Businesses are everyone else. Where a rule is only for consumers, we say so. Different terms of yours do not apply, even if we do not object to them.
2. What Medusa is
Medusa helps you keep animals: records, feeding schedules, tasks, notes, climate readings, and sharing all of it with the people in your organizations. We may improve, change or remove features, as long as this is reasonable for you and, for a plan you have paid for, does not take away what made you buy it.
Medusa is a tool, not advice. It is not veterinary advice and not a safety system. Reminders, calculations and sensor readings can be wrong, late or missing. You stay responsible for your animals and should not depend on Medusa alone for their welfare.
Pictures in Medusa. The illustrations and pictures that come with Medusa, such as the animal and habitat images, are currently made with AI image tools. We intend to replace them with work by human artists as soon as Medusa is financially stable enough to pay for it; we cannot promise a date. We also plan to let you upload your own pictures if you prefer them. That is not available yet, and we cannot promise when or in what form. Medusa is designed to be used with the pictures we provide. They are there for you to use inside Medusa; please do not copy or reuse them elsewhere without our permission.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old and give correct details.
- Keep your sign-in safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account unless it was not your fault.
- An organization has owners and members. The owners decide who joins and what they may do. Owners are responsible for the people they invite.
- You can delete your account at any time, see Delete your account.
4. Early access
- While Medusa is in early access, using it is free. No payment is taken, and you are never charged because of a reservation.
- You can reserve a founder spot or a plan. A reservation is free, does not oblige you to buy, and can be cancelled at any time before go-live. A founder number shown to you before go-live is provisional.
- Early access may contain errors, change quickly, and be interrupted. We do not promise a particular availability during early access.
- Limits that apply in early access, such as the number of free extra organizations, are shown in the app. Extra organizations you create for free in early access stay free.
5. Going live, and what happens to your account
We will tell you in the app and by e-mail when Medusa goes live (“go-live”). From then on:
- You choose. You can stay on the free plan with its limits, buy a paid plan, or, if you reserved it, buy the founder deal.
- A payment window of 30 days starts at go-live. During it you keep the access you had in early access.
- After the window, an account that has not bought a paid plan moves to the free plan. A founder reservation or plan reservation that has not been paid by then expires, and the founder number held for it can be given to others.
- What you lose is the paid features and limits. What you entered stays. If you have more than the free plan allows, it stays visible, but you cannot add more, and members above the free limit can only read.
- A purchase made before the window ends counts as paid in time.
We never charge you automatically because early access ends. You are only charged when you buy something yourself in the store.
6. What you can buy
| Product | What it is |
|---|---|
| Starter and Pro plans | A subscription, monthly or yearly, for one organization. It renews automatically until you cancel it in the store. The features of each plan are shown in the app before you buy. |
| Founder deal | A one-time purchase. It gives your personal organization the Pro plan for as long as Medusa is operated (“lifetime” means the life of the product, not your life), and a founder number and badge. If we ever stop operating Medusa for good, we will tell you at least 90 days ahead and let you take a copy of your data. |
| Extra organization | A one-time purchase that lets you create one more organization. |
The price that applies is the one the store shows you when you buy. Prices include any taxes that apply. We may change prices for new purchases at any time; a change to a running subscription is announced by the store, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
7. How buying works
- You buy in the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. They take the payment under their own terms, and we use RevenueCat to see what you bought. We never see your card details.
- The contract for a paid product is concluded when the store confirms your purchase.
- Subscriptions renew by themselves for the same period until you cancel. Cancel in the store, in your subscription settings, before the renewal date. We cannot cancel a store subscription for you. Deleting your Medusa account does not cancel your subscription: cancel it in the store first.
- A subscription you cancel runs until the end of the period you paid for.
- One paid plan covers one organization at a time. You can move it to another organization; the first one then falls back to the free plan.
- If a payment is refunded, reversed or charged back, we may take away what it unlocked. If you had already used a purchase, for example to create an extra organization, that organization can be limited to reading until it is paid for again.
8. Refunds
We do not give refunds for time you did not use, for a change of mind, or because you forgot to cancel. Purchases are final, with these exceptions that we cannot and do not exclude:
- your statutory right of withdrawal, if you are a consumer and it applies;
- your statutory rights if a paid product is defective or is not what was promised;
- the refund rules of Google Play or the Apple App Store, which decide refund requests made through them, usually within a short period after the purchase;
- anything else the law gives you.
If a refund is due, we arrange it through the store you bought in. The money comes back to the payment method you used.
9. Right of withdrawal for consumers
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal. For digital content and services that start at once, this right can end early. This is what applies:
Instructions on withdrawal
Right of withdrawal. You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is 14 days from the day the contract was concluded.
To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform us (Gijs Pampiermole, Am Wurstberg 14, 76332 Bad Herrenalb, Germany, e-mail privacy@nirah.nl) of your decision to withdraw from this contract by a clear statement (for example a letter sent by post or an e-mail). You may use the model withdrawal form below, but it is not obligatory. To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient that you send your communication before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal. If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse all payments we have received from you without undue delay and in any event within 14 days from the day we receive your notice of withdrawal. We will use the same means of payment you used for the original transaction, unless agreed otherwise; in no event will you be charged any fees for this reimbursement.
If you asked us to start providing a service during the withdrawal period (for example a subscription), you must pay us an amount in proportion to what has been provided until you told us about your withdrawal, compared with the full coverage of the contract.
Special notes
Your right of withdrawal also ends early for a contract for digital content that is not on a physical medium (for example the founder deal or an extra organization) if we have begun performance after you expressly agreed that we begin before the withdrawal period ends, and you confirmed that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal once performance has begun. For a contract for a service, your right ends when we have fully performed it, if you expressly asked us to begin before the withdrawal period ended and confirmed that you lose the right on full performance.
When you buy, we or the store ask for this agreement and confirmation. If you are not asked, or you do not agree, you keep your right of withdrawal in full.

(Complete and return this form only if you wish to withdraw from the contract.)

- Ordered on (*) / received on (*): ______________________
- Name of consumer(s): ______________________
- Address of consumer(s): ______________________
- Signature of consumer(s) (only if this form is notified on paper): ______________________

10. Your content
- What you enter stays yours.
- You give us the right to store, process and show it to the people you share it with, as far as we need that to run Medusa for you. This right ends when the content is deleted.
- You promise that you have the right to enter it and that it is lawful. Do not upload anything illegal, anything that infringes the rights of others, or malicious files.
11. Fair use
Do not misuse Medusa. In particular, do not try to get around plan limits, share an account to avoid paying, test the security of Medusa without our written permission, collect data in bulk, or disturb the service for others. If you break these rules we can warn you, limit your access, or, for serious or repeated breaches, close your account. We will tell you why unless the law forbids it.
12. Warranty
For paid products, the statutory rights for defects of digital products apply. We do not limit them. For use that is free of charge, including early access, we provide Medusa as it is, with the liability described in section 13.
13. Liability
- We are fully liable for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, for fraud, for guarantees we have expressly given, and under the Product Liability Act.
- For slightly negligent breach of an essential obligation (one that makes the contract possible and that you can normally rely on), our liability is limited to the damage that was foreseeable and typical for this kind of contract. For slightly negligent breach of any other obligation we are not liable.
- For use that is free of charge, we are liable only under point 1.
- For loss of data, we are liable up to the effort it would take to restore the data if you had made regular copies. You can ask us for a copy of your data at any time.
- These limits also apply to our helpers and staff.
- For animals and their care, see section 2. Medusa is a tool; the decisions are yours.
14. Ending the contract
- You can end your use at any time by deleting your account. Subscriptions are cancelled in the store (section 7).
- We can end free use with 30 days’ notice. For paid products we can end the contract only for good cause, for example a serious breach of section 11, or when we stop operating Medusa for good (see the founder deal in section 6). Prepaid time that you can no longer use because of our termination is refunded in proportion.
- When an account ends, we delete its data as described in the privacy policy.
15. Moving Medusa to the company Nirah
We intend to found a company called Nirah and to move Medusa and these contracts to it. We will tell you at least 30 days ahead, with the company’s name and details. The company then takes over all our obligations to you. You may end your contract before the move takes effect, and we refund the unused part of what you prepaid.
16. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms for good reasons, for example new features, new laws or a new company. We tell you at least 30 days ahead, in the app or by e-mail. For new purchases the new terms apply at once. For a paid contract that is already running, a change that disadvantages you applies only if you agree. If you do not, the old terms stay in force; if that is not workable, we may end the contract at the end of the paid period.
17. Law, disputes and language
- German law applies. For consumers, the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live stay in force. The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
- Consumers can sue us at the court where they live. For businesses, the court at our seat in Germany is responsible.
- We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution before a consumer arbitration board.
- These terms are written in English. If we add a German version later, the version you agreed to is the one that applies to you.
- If a part of these terms is invalid, the rest stays valid and the law replaces the invalid part.
